In November 2020, Trinity Capital and its co-sponsor, Vanderbilt, along with its institutional partner, Starwood Capital, acquired Southport, a 17-building, 911,700 SF portfolio that has a mix of lab, office , and flex buildings, located near the airport in the heart of the Triangle area. The project was acquired for $208mm, and represents one of the few remaining opportunities to convert a sizable existing portfolio to lab space. The business plan includes new amenities to attract life science users – an amenity and fitness center, universal façade improvements, upgrades to the park’s existing food services, a rebranding campaign, and replacement and addition of outdoor furniture among other improvements.
